Martin Scorsese is an American-Italian director who is famous for his iconic films such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas and The Departed which dabbled in gang conflicts, vigilantism, redemption and guilt and the world of crime.

Growing up Martin was asthmatic, so he could not play with other children as much, instead, he would visit movie theatres frequently with his parents and elder brother which developed his passion for cinemas. He earned a B.A. in English in 1964 from the NYU’s Washington Square College, went on to acquire his M.F.A. from NYU’s School of the Arts now( Tisch School of the Arts) in 1966.

He is the fourth oldest at age 64 to win the Best Director Academy Awards(Oscars) with his 2006 movie The Departed. Nolan, in 2017 was named in Time Magazines 100 most Influential People in the World. He initially aspired to be a Priest.

Martin Charles Scorsese was born to the family of  Charles Scorsese, Catherine Scorsese, who were both of Italian descent. He has an elder brother named Frank Scorsese, Martin has three children spanning from five marriages, the latest to producer Hellen Morris back in 1999.
